I have a new found respect for a friend of mine who recently ‘came out’ (as the saying goes). Although we, his friends, were all pretty sure he was gay, he hadn’t ever spoken about his sexuality and changed the subject every time he was asked.

I worked with him to help him change his beliefs around “What people would say and think” and “People think it’s wrong to be this way” – his beliefs of course, not mine.

As an outsider, I could clearly see the challenges, but couldn’t understand why any of that mattered when what is really important is him living to his values and true identity. To cut a long story short, he’s “out” now (whatever that really means) and I have never seen him happier…

Beliefs and values can determine how we live our life and sometimes what we choose to die for. Take war as an example – people die for what they believe and those beliefs are not always so easy to change (this is only a belief I hold, and not fact…).

I’ve been vegetarian for over 10 years. My beliefs about ‘not eating meat’ have been so strong that it’s often one of the first things I tell people when they ask what I do in life. I have always had such strong values around ‘peace’ and ‘kindness’ and would link those around kindness to animals and form beliefs about “how farming practices are so brutal”. But recently those beliefs have been challenged…

Two very good friends, Dan and Polly, are I believe, the very epitome of health. They look good – the kind of ‘healthy good’ you see when good looking famous people are interviewed on TV. They have bucket loads of energy, and without me weirdly admiring them too much – they are ripped. Muffin tops and baggy bums are off for them and I wanted to know how I can get me some of that…

Fast forward 4 months and a lot of new learning…

The Clean and Lean diet – well, not a diet – a way of living – has transformed my life and the way I think about food. My old beliefs have been totally distorted and new beliefs have been formed…

With constant useful advice and guidance from Dan and Polly (http://www.hityourpeak.co.uk/), and teachings from The Clean and Lean healthy eating books (http://amzn.to/HDY4sw) they recommended to me, along with the amazing documentary I watched entitled “The Perfect Human Diet” (http://www.perfecthumandiet.us/), I have changed my beliefs about food and the way I eat.

I don’t think I have ever eaten healthier and over the last month I have lost over 2 stone in weight – that wasn’t however the reason a chose to change my diet, just a benefit. I feel fantastic, I no longer suffer from tiredness, I have lots more energy and my mind feels so much clearer and this is all without doing any exercise or going on a crash diet. Dan and Polly are advocates of ‘The Clean and Lean’ way of eating and I am totally convinced that this is the way forward for me and my family. In summary, The Clean and Lean ‘diet’ means to get rid of any ‘processed, non-natural food’ – 90% of what I used to eat and purchase in my local supermarket – and to swap it with good, high protein food that has been grown, swims in the sea or in our rivers or has a mother and father (not including humans of course)… And so, after years of being a vegetarian – I now meat! I struggle to say it even though I have worked hard to change my beliefs around ‘kindness to animals’ and the implications of eating meat, but there it is… I’m out!

I only eat grass fed, ‘healthy meat’ that I buy from Athleat (http://www.athleat.co.uk – also recommended by Dan and Polly; use the code http://urlt.ag/nl8h to get 10% your order!) but this has been a major shift for me… I am so happy with the way I feel after just a few months of eating in a clean and lean way, that I want to introduce all of my friends and family to this too. My old way of eating was literally killing me (and my family) and I want to share these new secrets with you.

I have asked Dan and Polly to run some free webinars to tell you about this amazing new way of thinking about food and I will join them to explain more about my experience. I hope you can join us to hear more. Now that ‘I’m out’ I hope you will accept me as you did before…
